The access to this club is limited to members and their guests. It is not worth travelling there if you are neither of these. This is the most exclusive and very new Golf Club in Portugal. Its design is typical of the modern USA school, and the course is immaculately maintained. Situated near Rio Maior the Golden Eagle Golf & Country Club is the newest jewel of Portuguese golf. It covers 90 hectares/222 acres, and is framed by a landscape in which stone-pines, eucalyptuses and acacias stand out. Its design is typical of the modern North American school, which means target golf is the most important point. On the first round, look out for the hole number 6, a par 4 of 363 metres/397 yards, at which the golfer has to hit the second over some trees placed strategically in front of the fairway. On the second half play thoughtfully at hole number 12 of 378 metres/396 yards. Here, in order play par, the player has to make a second shot over the water on to a not very deep green. Huge bunkers are the main obstacles on this course.
