The course of Aix-les-Bains was one of the first in France, the first being as early as 1895 in Corsuet, a hill 4 kms from the city centre. The second golf course, which was built on today's site covered the present holes 9 and 14 to 18. Being established for such a long time this traditional course has plenty of mature trees which form the natural obstacles. A river crosses the course and water comes into play on 6 holes. The round starts with water right in front of the men's tees, then an ascending fairway and a green which is is bunkered right and left. The 3rd is a not a very difficult par 3 and a birdie could be possible if keeping to the right. The 5th fairway is bordered by trees on the left, the green is well-protected by three bunkers. The 10th is a test of your nerves, the fairway being framed by water on the right. The green is defended by trees, water and a huge bunker on the right. The 18th is a great final hole: a left dogleg, with water in front and a bunker at the back of the green. The course is excellently maintained and you will enjoy your golfing day at Aix-les-Bains. Aix-les-Bains is the venue of many important tournaments, such as the BMW Golf trophy, Chrysler Jeep, and many others. The present clubhouse and the restaurant are located in a chalet which was built in the twenties. The golf school is open from March to November with a break during the school holidays. Philippe Porquier and Michel Sandrini give particular attention to the juniors. Tuition programmes are offered to meet the special needs of all golfers.
